This is a teaser for a Nerf Gun mod that I will be posting soon. It started with a broken Nerf Maverick that I wanted to mod. I tried to fix the gun while doing the drop barrel mod and removing the air restrictors but the gun was just defective. I thought about just getting rid of it and buying a new Maverick, I did buy a new Maverick which I will be modding later but I decide to mod the broken gun anyway. I had one problem though and that is, that I didn't know what I wanted to do except that I wanted to Steampunk the gun.

It wasn't unusual for me not to have a plan, most of my projects start with just an idea and no real plan. I pull out lots of supplies, paints, wires and found object and eventually something comes to me and I run with it but this time it was a real struggle. I started to cut pieces off the Maverick trying to do something different and I took apart the cylinder but I kept discarding ideas...and pieces until I was left with just the grip and trigger.

Around this time I purchased Bioshock 1 and 2 on the Steam Summer sale and I also saw the cool Big Daddy Nerf Mod Nerf mod BioShock Big Daddy by GirlyGamerAU made by :icongirlygamerau:. Finally I knew what I wanted to do but that was just the beginning. It started off well and I was excited, then I ran out of a particular wire I was using, so I got in my car and went to my local craft store but they didin't have it...okay...so I got back in my car and went to my not so local craft store and they didn't have it. Now I was disappointed but I figured I would just have to be patient and order it online only I couldn't find the right gauge and strength.

I was really bummed now and I had no patience so I started looking around the house as if I could make the wire just appear, that was when I thought of metal clothes hangers and luckily we had a few and it worked great, looking even better then the original wire. So what I thought was a major setback turned out to be a blessing and a way to expand my creativity by repurposing a common object...it also saved me money.

I'll be posting the final project soon and I hope you like it...it's turning out to be one of my favorites.

P.S. For those of you that my not know there is a Bioshock book and its pretty good, I'm listening to the Audiobook version.

I liked your use of the Maverick in this one, the rounded area really fits it well. It's so funny how we both had similar issues with the wire. I ended up finding some in the gardening section of the hardware store (in case you need any in future).

Anyway just wanted to drop by and say nice job.... also thanks for the mention, you'd be surprised how many people don't bother, I really appreciate it.

I recently did a BioShock Infinite homage too... so excited about that game, am hoping it's good when it finally releases!
